Tell me why Xavier is alive, and your answer better not be “[Wolverine is] not the only one with gifts”! But where the time travel is concerned, I don’t think you can look at it in a linear way. I think of it as branches of possibility. Logan was sent back from one timeline to change the course of one event, which in turn set them along the course of a new timeline. Just like Kitty Pryde sets the mutants on a new course every time she sends Bishop back–it happened, but the outcome is as if it did not happen. Their new course does not require another trip to ensure the creation of the timeline in which they already exist.
